ARTIST STATEMENT
Dis/Order is my current body of work exploring over twenty years of lived experience with schizoaffective disorder through painting, photography, performance, and text. Rooted in feminist disability studies and testimonial practice, the project bears witness to trauma, survival, and the structural forces that shape life with mental illness.
These works speak to stigma, silence, and the labour of endurance—offering connection to those who have felt unseen, unheard, or made to feel too much, or not enough. Dis/Order is a visual testimony that resists dominant narratives of coherence and cure and insists on the value of lived experience. It is an exploration of how vulnerability, when held with care, can become a source of solidarity and empowerment.
